Google Groups is used as an archive for communication. Emails may then be sent via this system instead of directly to the members. In this way, sensitive information such as our minutes and articles is securely kept on Google’s servers protected by their security system.
Emails are sent to each member so there is a record. If a user wishes to participate in a conversation online, they will be required to have a Google Account. Sending of emails by non members to the group is not possible.
It is possible however to signup for a google account without requiring a gmail.com id. On the first page, simply say “Use my current email address instead” (see blue bold link below email textbox below).
